The Filter Coffee is one of the most addictive sources of caffeine for many people in the Southern states of India, and I am a huge fan of the same. My life is complicated, I prefer to have Chai (Tea) when my day is going bad, but I would ditch my cup of tea only for a nice cup of Filter Coffee. Now of course we have many different kinds of coffee, one’s you cannot even pronounce the names, one’s with fancy ingredients all the way from some corner of the world where you have never been to or even heard of, or coffee with ice cream and ice and cream and cherry on the top. I am not complaining but I am just saying there is so much in the world of coffee that maybe a life time is not enough to taste it all.
Alchemy Coffee Roasters in Jayanagar is one of those places that offer freshly made coffee with their own variations and techniques. Their coffee beans are from the local regions of Karnataka and they do offer a great combination of not just coffee, but food as well. Now, that is a winner for me, a café with great coffee, good food, and a fantastic ambiance. Oh, the place is crowded and chaotic most of the time, it is filled with coffee lovers from all over the city, they have a smoking and a non-smoking section, the start-up companies dp come in a lot with their laptops and have crazy conversations about their lives and work, you have soothing music playing and they have amazing décor as well.

To start off, we had the Café Mocha and a Filter Kaapi Frappuccino. Café Mocha is Alchemy’s take on the famous hot chocolate; the taste is so refreshing and rich in chocolate that I could not stop sipping on this masterpiece. Do stir well before you gulp it down, the more you stir the better the taste as the powder mixes and makes the drink all the more refreshing.

Filter Kaapi Frappuccino is a version of the Cold Coffee, the basic idea is to have the local filter coffee mixed in ice and some cream. This may not be welcomed by the loyal fans of the filter coffee but then if you want to have something to cool you off with the taste of filter coffee, then this is something you should definitely try out.

For starters, we ordered the Chicken Tikka and Cheese Garlic Bread. Thin bread crusts with a layer of melted cheese and filled with chicken tikka cubes and vegetables were indeed the best way to start off the food adventure. It is very light on the stomach since it is a thin crust and it is a must for the cheese lovers.

Street Style Masala Fried Rice was our choice for the Main Course. This is a semi spicy dish that consists of nicely chopped chicken meat, vegetables and Indian spices to make it a slightly different version from those of the regular fried rice that one would come across. Frankly speaking, this is nothing but what we may call Chicken Pulao, it is very similar to this dish and in fact that is the closest resemblance that I could think of.

I would like to end this by saying that Alchemy Coffee Roasters is not just for the coffee lovers but they do offer some of the best food I have come across in a café. You can find them on 51 Ground Floor, 5th Main Road, 36th Cross Road, 5th Block, Jayanagar, Bangalore.
Coffee – 4.5/5
Food – 4/5
