Each and every city has its own charm, beauty, and of course places one has to visit to enjoy the local cuisine. Shri Sagar aka CTR is one such place in Bangalore which is known for its crispy dosa and the amazing coffee they have to offer. Rich in history, it was formerly known as the Central Tiffin Room which dates back to the mid 1920’s. Not many vintage restaurants are alive anymore, but places like these are filled with people even today, for the value of the food has not changed since then and its charm still remains. The place is usually crowded throughout the day, having to wait patiently till someone guides to a table and once you sit down, there is no going back.

The Pandas first and obvious choice was to have the Benne Masala Dosa. This version of the Dosa is indeed the best you ever get in the entire city; there is no doubt about that. The crispiness of this dosa is something that is not available in many of the places that offer dosa, also the use of butter is so crucial in the making of this dosa. The chutney and aloo that is provided along with the dosa are a little spicy but never the less taste much better than the chutneys that are usually diluted with water.

Followed by the dosas, we ordered for a plate of Poori. Now this may not be the go to dish in a place that is usually known for its dosa but I enjoyed the semi crispy poori with a brilliantly done saagu that had finely cut vegetables with potato dominating the taste.

Finally we ended the late evening food affair with something sweet that they have to offer. Yes, it is the Kesari Bath, the sweet dish the locals cherish on, the dish that defines many people’s mornings and arguably one of the best sweet dishes to cherish upon. It is sweet, filled with dry fruits, and it just melts in your mouth.

CTR is a must visit for everyone in the city, for every true lover of dosa, and for anyone who wants to enjoy a happy meal, then this is the place you should go to. You can find them on 7th Cross, Margosa Road, Malleshwaram, Bangalore
