Mast Marathi – Bengaluru

Trying out different cuisines every now and then sure challenges your taste buds. This week we went to Mast Marathi in HSR Layout, Bengaluru to try out some delicious food from the state of Maharashtra. The place is small and cute, the service is pretty fast, and the food is fresh as well. You can find parking right opposite to the restaurant as well. We had the following while we were at Mast Marathi.

The first dish had to be Misal Pav, having tried some of the best in Pune, we were eagerly waiting to get our hands on this. The pav is well done, with the right amount of butter, while the misal is tasty and not very spicy at all. Surely it was way below par compared to the ones in Pune, but this was one of the better versions available in the city of Bengaluru.

Cheese Masala Pav was something that we had not come across before and we were very curious to try this one out. It is basically pav bread cut into small pieces which is sauted in Pav Bhaji masala, mixed with few veggies, and topped with a lot of cheese. This dish is quite heavy on the stomach, but it had a very unique sweet and sour taste and was worth the try.

Masala Butter Milk had a fair amount of leaves mixed with the drink, the freshness and the salty flavor was perfect indeed.

Amruttulya Chai is a special tea from Pune that is made in the traditional style, this was very different from the regular chai we usually come across, a bit too sweet though.

Lastly, we ended our time at Mast Marathi with the Vada Pav. The pav was consistent and nice, smeared with butter, and the aloo filling was tasty and not so spicy. The mirchi adds to the spiciness while the red chilli powder was not that dominant.

The bathroom over here is a disaster, the most unhygienic place ever. I hope the staff takes better care of this, if they can’t then just don’t allow the guests to use it. You can find Mast Marathi at Site 1, 18th Main, Sector 3, HSR Layout, Near Sri Shirdi Saibaba Mandir, HSR, Bangalore.
