Taste of Tibet – Bengaluru

Located in the by lanes of Brigade Road in Bengaluru, this Tibetan restaurant is famous among the city folks for its authentic food they serve. The restaurant has been around for more than a decade, the setup is small, the hygiene of the place will surely be questioned by many, and the ambiance is pretty plain as well. What works for them is the taste of the food they serve, which is marvelous. We had the following while we were at Taste of Tibet.

Chicken steamed Momos had the perfect juicy filling, with the right amount of spices as well. The outer layer was perfectly steamed and the chutney ended up adding more zest to this dish. It was indeed the perfect start to the evening.

Shaptra with Tingmo was the next choice. The buns were large and steamed to perfection, while thick gravy was served piping hot. Would have preferred it to be a semi gravy dish rather than a complete gravy. The taste was a mix of sour and spice, with fresh veggies having been used, it was as good as it could be.

Chicken Thukpa was way too bland. Yes, considering it to be a soupy affair, there have been various versions of Thukpa that we have tried that were far more tasty and delicious than the one we had at Taste of Tibet. The noodles, veggies, and the meat were great, but it had absolutely no taste. Nothing could make it better and that for us was a little disappointing.
